Training Seminar for SAIs of African States: Digital Transformation, Data Analysis, and Working with SAI Recommendations

As part of its ongoing engagement with Supreme Audit Institutions of African countries, on December 9, 2025, the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation held a two‑session online training seminar.

During the event, representatives of the Accounts Chamber shared their best practices on digitalization of SAIs, data analysis, and implementation of recommendations.

The event garnered significant attention and involved representatives from 18 African countries, including Mr. Latin Poda, First President of the Court of Accounts of Burkina Faso, Mr. Cherno Amadou Sowe, Auditor General of the Republic of The Gambia, and Dr. Ricardino Costa Alegre, Judge Counsellor and President of the Court of Auditors of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe.

Opening the seminar, Mr. Timur Makhmutov, Director of the Department for International and Regional Cooperation of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, moderator of the meeting, expressed gratitude to international colleagues for their continued support of the Accounts Chamber’s initiatives and keen interest in Russian audit experience.

Mr. Valery Sokhorov, Director of the Digital Transformation Department, delivered a presentation on digitalization of SAIs. Mr. Andrey Malokostov, Deputy Head of the Inspectorate for Quantitative and Qualitative Research in Audit of the Department of Research and Methodology, introduced econometric methods for data analysis in auditing. Ms. Maria Orekhova, Deputy Director of the Department of External Communications, and Ms. Alexandra Gorval, Lead Counsellor of the Strategic Communications Division of the Department of External Communications, shared their experience on audit recommendation workflows – from formulation and monitoring to implementation facilitation methods.

Key discussion points included risk management and data privacy in the digital age, as well as the technical and organizational aspects of monitoring and implementing audit recommendations.

Participants emphasized the practical significance of the training seminar and confirmed their interest in SAI Russia’s best practices.
