World Energy Outlook 2023

World Energy Outlook 2023

The International Energy Agency (IEA) presented a new World Energy Outlook.

The organization estimates that technological advances will significantly change the global energy system by the end of this decade. The volatility of energy markets during the crisis has underscored the importance of stable energy supplies, especially in developing countries where electricity demand has seen the greatest growth.

By 2030, the share of fossil fuels in the global energy balance will decrease to 73%, the share of renewable energy sources (RES) will increase to 50%. It is expected that RES will provide up to 80% of all new energy capacity, of which 50% will be solar photovoltaic systems. Since 2020, investment in green energy has increased by 40%. Among the main factors for increasing the investment attractiveness of sustainable projects is the desire to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement to reduce the carbon footprint, increase the economic efficiency of energy infrastructure, and ensure diversification of energy supplies.
