World Economic Outlook
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published a new report, World Economic Outlook.
According to the Fund's estimates, the global economy will grow by 2.8% in 2023 and by 3% in 2024, which is almost in line with January forecasts. For Russia, the IMF raised its economic growth forecast to 0.7% in 2023 and 1.3% in 2024.
The Fund's experts draw attention to a number of factors that could lead to a sharp slowdown in economic growth. Particular risks are associated with the situation in the financial sector. Against the background of persistently high levels of inflation and tightening of monetary policy, the cost of servicing public and corporate debt is rising, which calls into question the sustainability of public budgets in many countries. In addition, the risks to the financial system are directly related to other factors associated with both rising commodity prices and geopolitical tensions.
