Companies and governments need to join forces to promote innovative industrial development and sustainable economic growth.

This is stated in a joint report of the World Economic Forum, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the University of Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy Group.

The document identifies five global challenges that require priority attention:

• Decarbonizing manufacturing operations, products and supply chains
• Enhancing supply chain resilience 
• Accelerating the scaling up and adoption of novel industrial technologies
• Securing the future of the manufacturing workforce
• Linking business values with social and environmental responsibility
