The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) analyzed the dynamics of patenting in the field of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) technology.

According to experts, more than 54,000 inventions were registered and more than 75,000 scientific papers were published in 2010–2023 (25% of inventions and 45% of scientific papers were presented in 2023).

The leaders in patenting are China (38,210), the United States (6,276), the Republic of Korea (4,155), Japan (3,409), and India (1,350).

The largest number of innovations are intended for working with images and video (17,996), text (13,494), and speech/music (13,480). In-demand areas of application include medicine and biology (5,346), document management and publishing (4,976).
