A new report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) examines effective parliamentary budgeting practices.

The powers of parliamentarians in the field of taxation and spending public funds are enshrined in constitutions around the world. The role of these government institutions throughout the entire budget cycle is fundamental and directly related to issues such as transparency, inclusiveness and accountability. Despite various historical, constitutional and political contexts, OECD experts managed to identify common features of effective budget management in the analysis of international experience.
