China’s Policy Strategies for Green Low-Carbon Development: Perspective from South-South Cooperation

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) presented a new working paper "China’s policy strategies for green low-carbon development: Perspective from South-South cooperation".

The purpose of the publication is to analyze China's capabilities to reduce carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Given China's income level, economic structure, and trends in the development of the energy sector, fulfilling the relevant obligations is difficult. To promote sustainable development, UNCTAD recommends using tax incentives and subsidies, increasing the investment attractiveness of sustainable projects, promoting the introduction of environmental production standards and scaling up successful projects, and conducting a systematic assessment of the effectiveness of sustainable development programs.
