What is an Effective Meeting?
What is an effective meeting? According to McKinsey experts, the COVID-19 pandemic has “rewritten” the rules of corporate behavior and organization of the workflow.
Digitalization, on the one hand, has expanded the possibilities of interaction. On the other hand, it highlighted the problem of ineffective communications. As a consequence, slowing down the decision-making process and reducing productivity.
According to a McKinsey study, 61% of managers spend most of their working time on decision-making, incl. to meetings. At the same time, when solving the problem of optimizing the decision-making process, managers more often pay attention to reorganization, rather than improving the quality of corporate interaction. The authors recommend that leaders stop thinking about time management as a personal issue and start addressing it institutionally.
Key recommendations for optimizing working time:
- regard the manager's time as a limited resource requiring clear planning and distribution;
- allocate time for solving organizational problems;
- analyze the effectiveness of the time spent;
- evaluate the calendar.
