WGSDG KPSI Participated in the Meeting ARABOSAI Committee on SDGs Auditing
On September 17, 2025, the ARABOSAI Committee on SDGs Auditing held a regular meeting.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the SAIs of the Arab region. SAI Russia participated in the Meeting as a Chair of the INTOSAI Working Group on SDGs and Key Sustainable Development Indicators (WGSDSG KSDI).
WGSDSG KSDI participates in the work of the international community to ensure sustainable development by implementing initiatives aimed at achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Agenda 2030), a global action plan adopted by the UN member states in 2015.
Mr. Anton Kosyanenko, Director of the Department for Audit of Economic Development of SAI Russia, Executive Secretary of WGSDSG KSDI, made a presentation that contained a detailed report on key achievements and projects developed within the framework of the group's activities.
Among the achievements, he noted the development of The Guidance on ESG Audit and the Practical Guidance on SDG Auditing at the Regional Level. With the support of SAI Morocco, ARABOSAI Secretariat, as well as SAIs of Egypt and Jordan these documents were translated into Arabic in order to promote unified approaches to SDG auditing and sustainable development in regional organizations of the global auditing community.
In addition, Mr. Kosyanenko presented the current initiatives and projects of the group to the participants. He highlighted the Guidance “Sustainable Development: Practical frameworks for SAIs” and the Guidance on the Audit of the Reliability of Macroeconomic Forecasts.
Also Anton Kosyanenko stressed the importance of developing common approaches and standards to measure the progress of INTOSAI member in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The group's priority projects for the coming years will be the development Guidelines on measuring progress towards achieving Goal 5 (gender equality): Qualitative and quantitative assessment indicators and Guidance on Evaluation of Energy Transition Mechanisms to Achieve SDG 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy” and SDG 13 “Climate Action”.
The group is also working on development of the Knowledge Base of best practices to support the implementation of ESG principles.
Answering a question from representatives of the ARABOSAI Secretariat about the group's plans for the period after 20230, when the SDGs will be conditionally considered achieved, Mr. Kosyanenko noted that work on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals should become an integral part of the long-term vision of each organization. It is important to create conditions for regular updating of databases, ensuring timely informing participants about the latest technologies and approaches in the field of sustainable development. This will increase the transparency of processes and strengthen control over the efficient use of public resources, strengthen trust and cooperation between countries, and create conditions for further advancement and a sustainable future.
