BRICS SAIs Seminar on Artificial Intelligence Use

On January 30, 2026, the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of the Republic of India hosted an online seminar of BRICS SAIs to share experiences on "Responsible use of artificial intelligence in public administration: audit approaches to ensure accountability and transparency".

The event was held in accordance with the BRICS SAIs Work Plan for 2025–2026.

Mr. Timur Makhmutov, Director of the Department for International and Regional Cooperation of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, commended SAI India’s active work in coordinating the BRICS audit cooperation format in 2026 in the context of India's chairship in the grouping. Mr. Alexey Kogtev, Deputy Director of the Digital Transformation Department, presented Russian experience in using AI in public auditing. The speaker covered SAI Russia’s digital transformation priorities and the development of a multi-agent system at the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Participants from SAIs Brazil, China, Egypt, Indonesia, and South Africa also shared their experiences during the seminar. Representatives of Russian regional audit institutions also took part in the event.

Following the webinar, participants noted similarities in their approaches to AI use in auditing, including common challenges associated with the technology's application. BRICS SAIs confirmed their commitment to continuing to share audit experiences through regular online seminars.
