The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and structural macroeconomic issues are having a negative impact on global economic performance.

This is stated in a new report by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). According to experts, in 2023 the growth of world GDP will be 2.3%, in 2024 - 2.5% (compared to the figures in 2000-2019 - 3.1%). Inflation remains consistently high in most countries in 2023, with a global average of 5.2%.

The US economic outlook for 2023 is raised to 1.1% on rising household spending. The European Union economy is expected to grow by 0.9%, driven by lower energy prices. China's GDP growth will increase to 5.3% due to the lifting of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the positive dynamics of the developed countries, the forecasts for most developing countries were revised downward due to the tightening of external lending conditions and the growth of public debt.
