World Bank published a new working report of on the state of transport and logistics chains in the context of the global economic crisis.
Experts assessed the efficiency, reliability and resilience of supply chains in 139 countries. The leaders of the rating are Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria.
Based on the results of the analysis of global trade routes, it was found that 60% of the transport trade route passes through the sea. The average shipping time for goods by sea is 44 days with a standard deviation of 10.5 days. Delays occur when containers are delayed at their point of origin or destination - ports, airports or multimodal sites. To improve the efficiency of deliveries, the authors recommend directing additional investments in the modernization of port infrastructure and customs services.
