Systematization and development of approaches to auditing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) are recognized as important actors in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their role is to develop a strategic approach to public audit to support national priorities and the SDGs by providing audit-based advice to government and promoting effective, transparent and meaningful accountability of governments.
Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the UN in 2015, INTOSAI has implemented many projects and actively supports SAIs’ initiatives to make a significant contribution to the success of the SDGs.
The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation as the Chair of INTOSAI, together with the INTOSAI General Secretariat and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) and interested INTOSAI community members, comprehensively promotes the systematization and development of approaches to auditing the implementation of the SDGs, as well as cooperation and exchange of information related to the SDGs between INTOSAI and other international organizations.
In order to comprehensively promote the SDGs, INTOSAI has the Working Group on SDGs and Key Sustainable Development Indicators headed by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation.
